Who we serve

Built around the families who make Front Royal what it is.

Many households move to this valley for the faith, the parish, and a place to raise children well. We plan for the real shape of those lives.

01

Large & growing families

Front Royal draws big families for a reason. We plan for the true math of many children: one household, one plan, many futures.

02

New to the valley

Moved here for the community? We help you put down financial roots to match the ones you are planting everywhere else.

03

Business owners

From cash flow to succession, we help owners build real value and plan the eventual handoff on their own terms.

04

Nearing or in retirement

A clear picture of what you can spend, income you will not outlive, and the confidence to actually enjoy it.

05

Estates & legacies

Passing on what you have built, in good order, with an eye on both taxes and family harmony for the generations after you.

What we do

One relationship for the whole financial picture.

Planning and investing under one roof, coordinated with your CPA and attorney, so nothing important falls between the cracks.

A.

Financial planning

One clear plan across saving, spending, insurance, and goals, revisited as your family grows.

B.

Investment management

Diversified, long-term portfolios built to your goals and screened to your values. See How we invest.

C.

Retirement & income

Turning a lifetime of saving into dependable income you will not outlive.

D.

Estate & legacy

Multigenerational transfer done thoughtfully, coordinated with your estate attorney.

E.

Education funding

Funding many educations at once, beyond a single 529, without derailing your own retirement.

F.

Tax coordination

Working alongside your CPA so the plan and the tax return actually agree.

G.

Charitable & parish giving

Giving to your parish and the causes you love in the most effective way, from donor-advised funds to gifts of appreciated stock.

How we invest

A sound portfolio and a clear conscience. You should have both.

TBD builds diversified, long-term portfolios and screens them in alignment with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Socially Responsible Investment Guidelines, updated in 2021. Those guidelines describe three ways to invest as a steward:

Avoid doing harm

We decline investments in companies whose products or practices run counter to Catholic moral teaching.

Actively work for change

Where we hold companies, we use that ownership, through proxy voting and engagement, to press for the good.

Promote the common good

We look for investments that build up people, families, and communities, not only balance sheets.

TBD is an independent firm and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the USCCB, the Diocese of Arlington, or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The USCCB does not endorse financial advisers or investment firms; its guidelines are referenced here for informational purposes only. Values-based screening may limit the investable universe and could affect performance. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal.

Our approach

Four steps, then a lifetime of tending it.

No jargon and no theater. You will always understand what we are doing and why.

1

Listen

We start with a conversation about your family, your values, and what you want your money to do. No cost, no pressure.

2

Map

We build a clear picture of where you stand and where you are headed, and we name the gaps honestly.

3

Build

We put the plan and the portfolio in place, coordinated with your CPA and attorney so it all fits together.

4

Steward

We meet through the seasons of your life and keep the plan current as marriages, children, and markets change.

Why families choose us

The advantages of a firm that is small, local, and on your side.

Local and present

We live and worship where you do. You will meet the person actually managing your money.

Fee-only fiduciary

We are paid by you, never by commissions or product quotas. Our advice answers to one master.

Built for generations

We are structured around large families and the long, careful handoff to the next one.

Values-aligned by default

Faith-informed screening is not an upsell here. It is simply how we invest, and it is optional for those who prefer otherwise.

Plain language

We explain every recommendation in words a busy parent can follow between school pickups.

Coordinated, not siloed

Your planner, your CPA, and your attorney working from the same page, not three separate ones.

The people

Advisors you will actually know by name.

Questions

Straight answers.

What does “fee-only fiduciary” mean?
Fiduciary means we are legally required to put your interests first. Fee-only means our only compensation comes from you, never from commissions or selling you products. It removes a whole category of conflicts before they can start.
How do you charge?
Add your fee schedule here, for example a flat annual planning fee and/or a percentage of the assets we manage. Be specific and plain.
Will values-based screening hurt my returns?
Screening narrows the menu, which can cause performance to differ, up or down, from an unscreened index in any given period. We build broadly diversified portfolios to manage that trade-off. We will not promise it comes free, and we would rather tell you that plainly.
Do I have to be Catholic to work with you?
No. Anyone is welcome. Values-aligned investing is available to any client who wants it, and set aside for those who would rather invest without it.
Is there an account minimum?
State your minimum here, or say “no strict minimum” if that is your policy.
Are you affiliated with the parish or the Diocese?
No. We serve many families in the parish community, but TBD is an independent business with no formal affiliation with, or endorsement from, St. John the Baptist, the Diocese of Arlington, or the USCCB.
